PERMANENT IS IRONIC. In an industry that thrives on the new and the fashionable, permanence may be fleeting but the standard for distinction remains. From the ephemeral sphere of pop culture to the most established concepts, Permanent strives to remain honest and true to the brands and projects we develop, for the benefit of both the client and the consumer.

What is Permanent?

Permanent is a full service agency that merges the capacity of art with the functionality of design. We connect our clients with hand-plucked teams perfectly tailor-fit to specific projects, keeping the quality level high, the momentum fluid, and the overhead low. Through bold, thoughtful, and ambitious initiatives we produce fresh concepts that sit at the intersection of both art and design, creating borderless, unique solutions for a wide-range of clients.

A Group Model

We utilize a networked system we refer to as the "Group", a select partnership of self-established creatives and revolving artisans of all stripes. Group members are like-minded individuals who share our vision and come to Permanent with a wide range of skills. They strategically support us as we support them, together building a multi-disciplinary firm which is structured around Permanent's core partners. We have teamed up renowned 20+ year industry vets with some of today's most innovative and talented youth; combined award-winning techies with contemporary visual artists--and generally thrown caution to the wind when it comes to inspired collaboration. Together, we share views and strengths geared toward the future of the modern agency.

TWO at XYandZ Gallery: Tonja Torgerson artist selections: Jennifer Davis + Ellen Mueller

We have to admit we were thrilled to learn that former XYandZ exhibiting artist, Tonja Torgerson chose Jennifer Davis as an “established artist” for TWO. Jennifer is not only admirable for her signature style of painting, but the example she provides as an artist who effectively self-promotes, collaborates and continually maintains professionalism. Her recent 4 day pop-up gallery, Delightful 3,  in St. Paul with local artist Amy Rice, is just one example of how awesome she is, not only because she consistently produces amazing work… but she gets it seen, shared and sold.

Tonja told us,  “ I chose Jennifer because I have been aware of her work since the first time we were shown together over 5 years ago. I have loved watching her work take off and find her a good model of how it is possible to be a successful working artist.”

Tonja, who originally showed her work at XYandZ in January 2010, has had quite a few of her own successes. She recently beat tough competition, proving her printmaking finesse in two major juried print exhibits. Her work is included in the Atlanta Print Biennial International, at Barbara Archer Gallery in Atlanta, chosen out of over 750 applicants from the U.S., Canada, Europe and Japan. Her work was also chosen out of over 300 applicants to be shown in Print U.S.A. 2011 at the Springfield Art Museum.

Tonja included Ellen Mueller as her “emerging artist” pick. Explaining why she selected Ellen, Tonja shared, “She has been an amazing colleague, and is a true friend. While her mediums are quite different than mine, we both think about control and anxiety a lot in our work.  Her move into performance and video work is incredible and I think more people should be paying attention to what she is making.”
