PERMANENT IS IRONIC. In an industry that thrives on the new and the fashionable, permanence may be fleeting but the standard for distinction remains. From the ephemeral sphere of pop culture to the most established concepts, Permanent strives to remain honest and true to the brands and projects we develop, for the benefit of both the client and the consumer.

What is Permanent?

Permanent is a full service agency that merges the capacity of art with the functionality of design. We connect our clients with hand-plucked teams perfectly tailor-fit to specific projects, keeping the quality level high, the momentum fluid, and the overhead low. Through bold, thoughtful, and ambitious initiatives we produce fresh concepts that sit at the intersection of both art and design, creating borderless, unique solutions for a wide-range of clients.

A Group Model

We utilize a networked system we refer to as the "Group", a select partnership of self-established creatives and revolving artisans of all stripes. Group members are like-minded individuals who share our vision and come to Permanent with a wide range of skills. They strategically support us as we support them, together building a multi-disciplinary firm which is structured around Permanent's core partners. We have teamed up renowned 20+ year industry vets with some of today's most innovative and talented youth; combined award-winning techies with contemporary visual artists--and generally thrown caution to the wind when it comes to inspired collaboration. Together, we share views and strengths geared toward the future of the modern agency.

TWO at XYandZ Gallery: Anna Tsantir and Dan Ludtke Artist Selections

What I remember most about the combination of Anna Tsantir and Dan Ludtke showing new work together at XYandZ this past June, were two experiences existing simultaneously within the gallery… on one side color and madness, and on another side control and subtlety.  Revisiting the exhibit preview I wrote for that show, I came across this description:

“Anna’s work feels minimal and monochromatic, hand crafted, organic and naturally geometric. Dan’s work is color and intensity, aggressive and synthetic— fused with music, sex and medicine.”

An interesting aspect of watching TWO come together are the revealing similarities between the artists and their selections. Anna and Dan’s selections are no exception. Anna’s choices include Brian Aldrich and Nick Howard. Each artist submitted colorless pieces of art for TWO and both are perfect in that simplicity. Anna tells us a bit more about her choices:

“I picked Brian Aldrich because I think he is largely unknown (as he is slightly hermetic!) I love his work. His house/studio is amazing, there is no division between his art and his life. Nick is my studio mate and an emerging artist to take note of for sure. Works on paper and the meditative repetitive qualities of his imagery and the limited palette is what I am drawn to.”

    Work by Brian Aldrich.

    Work by Nick Howard.

The artwork by Dan’s picks, Alex Chitty and Lee Relvas are as confrontational as his own… both artists as well are influenced by music, sexuality, culture and society. Color and energy are in no way lacking.

    Work by Alex Chitty.

    Work by Lee Relvas.

We asked artists we admire to chose two other artists they consider inspiring and exciting and what did we get? In this case nothing short of that.
